IMBESTIAMENTO DI UNA CLASSE DI POTERE

di Leonardo Sciascia

… It seems, today, for many who paint, who’s job is to come later. Before the success to be achieved by means of propaganda and publicity, and then the craft. And maybe never, once achieved success, because Calascibetta self-taught, did the opposite. He had some things to say, in painting, and tried first to tell you the craft. And I would say that much trade, and now ingrained things to say that – for example the use of acrylic paint has become the means of expression. The acrylics are a comfort, generally. In his case are expressive; whole, ie with the world it represents. The world, wanting to quit in a formula of Catholic corruption, or want to itemize corruption Democrat. In one of his early paintings, the exhibits of the "sacred art" nell’arcivescovado Palermo, the title was Processions and processes, and this we can say that is the theme, obsessively even though it appears constant in different forms of his painting to date. Theme which is implicit, adding imbestiamento to a class of power in the broadest sense sufficiently imbestiata avarice and greed in the broadest sense that a sexuality without joy in itself ruffled…

Palermo – April 1979
